3.5 First half - boring. Second half - A lot better and I finally started getting attached to the characters.
Don't get me wrong, I did like this book a lot but it was kind of a disappointment. Maybe it's because I read I'll be your drill, soldier!
(which is one of my all time favourites) a couple of weeks ago, and I still had that one in mind, but I didn't end up liking this one as much as I thought I would. I didn't really care for the characters at first; they grew on me with time but it took at least ~170 pages for that to happen.
One aspect that I really liked about the book was how realistic it was. It was emotional and angsty at times, but without being overly so. The scene where Chris got beat up was a really hard scene to read about though.
Col and Chris were great as a couple, they worked out perfectly even with the constant insecurities they had. They ended up moving past that and getting their HEA.
